So you don’t have time for a skincare regime?

If I had a pound for every time somebody has told me that they don’t have time to do a skincare regime, I would be buying a new Michael Kors handbag right now! I thought it would be fun to time my skincare regime everyday for a week to find out how much of my day is spent on my face. I then decided it would be even more fun to look at how this relates to other things that most  people do in an average day, to show once and that you most certainly do have time to care for your skin!

So, over a week of timing myself, it averaged out to take me 10 minutes a day.

My regime consists of…


Cleanse – Active cleanser by HydraFacial

Exfoliate – Exfoliating polish by ZO

Tone – TE-Pads by ZO

Antioxidant – Antioxidant power serum by ZENii

Eye serum – Eye renewal serum by Perk

0.3mm roller – Radiance roller by ZENii

That may sound like a lot to some people, but to me it’s an essential part of my day, just like brushing your teeth or taking a shower. I mean you can cleanse in the shower for goodness sake so there’s a few minutes just by doing that!

So what else does the average person spend 10 minutes or more of their day doing?…

  • Social media – As of 2017, the average daily amount of time spent on social media increased to a new high of approximately 135 minutes. That’s 2 hours and 15 minutes every day! Stop looking at celebs faces and saying ‘damn I wish I had their skin’ get into the bathroom and make a step towards getting that skin!
  • Watching TV – The average brit spends between 3-5 hours watching television in a day. I don’t even like to think what sort of crap is being viewed in all of those hours, but even if you’re watching a show, you could be doing even 1 of each of the skincare stages in every ad break, your face and mind will be grateful.
  • Netflix – The average Netflix subscriber spends 21 minutes a day looking for something to watch. I don’t struggle to believe this one, if anything I would say I spend more time than this. Give your partner/room-mate/family member the remote, chances are by the time you’ve done your skincare routine they still won’t have found anything to watch!
  • Tea & Coffee – The average Briton spends 24 minutes a day making tea and coffee. My trick is to get up, stick the kettle on, go and do your routine. By the time you’re done, you’ll have a nice hot kettle and you can reward yourself with a lovely brew.
  • Worrying – In a study of 2000, a whopping 86% of people considered themselves ‘worriers’. This averaged out at 2 hours a day of people worrying about work, money & relationships. Spend 10 minutes a day on your face and that’s 10 minutes you won’t be fretting. With your skin health in check this will be 1 less thing to worry about!
