Definition of Aesthetician “A person who is knowledgeable about Aesthetics”

headshotI’m pretty happy with that definition, although it misses out counselor, confidant, empathiser & friend. This is what I’ve been to hundreds if not thousands of clients in my time as a practitioner and this is what I’m hoping to be for you.

I understand that for many people, the idea of going to see a professional in person can take a huge amount of courage. Talking to a stranger about something that may have been affecting your self-confidence for years is not an easy thing. It can be incredibly hard to let down those barriers and be so open about something so personal.

This is where I’m hoping that I can be your first point of call! With this blog I want to give sound advice about conditions and available treatments so that you can make a more informed decision about what may be right for you!

To tell you a little about my background. I always knew that I wanted to be involved in the beauty industry, so was completely set that I would do my NVQ level 2 in beauty therapy. What I wasn’t expecting however was how much doing my NVQ level 3 would change my mind about the sort of beauty I wanted to go into and, most importantly, introduced me to the world of Aesthetics. After finishing my NVQ’s, at the age of 18, I got a part time job at MediZen (the midland’s premier aesthetic clinic) working under the esteemed Dr. David Eccleston. During my part time years, I went on to do a BTEC Level 4 in medical aesthetics & a BTEC in the practical use and theory of lasers. I then moved onto do full time work and was at MediZen for a total of 4 years administering numerous treatments and getting hundreds of hours of experience under my belt. In this time, I grew so much as a person and had so much joy helping all sorts of people from all sorts of backgrounds.

In the last year I have moved onto pastures new, after being recruited by HydraFacial UK, which also looks after Perk skincare UK and the ZENii wellness range as a sales rep & event co-ordinator. My job takes me all over the country to a host of different clinics and salons and I love the varied days. However, my heart remains at MediZen and I continue to do 1 Saturday a month there to keep my toe in!

I love to help people and I would like to be here to help you as much as I can, which is why I want you to find me on Facebook & Instagram to ask me questions and I promise to give my honest and unbiased advice. If there’s anything I can’t help you with I will point you in the right direction.

I hope this blog will be the start of something really inclusive and give people a space to ask questions without fear of judgment because believe me…I’ve seen it all!

I’m look forward to starting this journey with you…
